Originally from Virginia, D3J has lived and performed in Austin, New York, and Baltimore. He currently resides in North Carolina, getting his masters or something.

Dan Amitai started DJing at the UMD college radio station under the name Smooth Henry. He uses turntables, laptops and an EFX-1000 with nothing left to lose, mixing dance music spanning many genres. You may have caught him performing at many of DC and Baltimore’s alternative music venues, including Edge, The Black Cat, Rock & Roll Hotel, The Hosiery/Gold Leaf, Warehouse Next Door and the Nerve Center; as well as large mainstream clubs such as Ultrabar, Club Five, Sonar, Eyebar and FUR. Having lived in the area for a short time, Jacob has definiltey become a familiar name within the DC/Baltimore Breaks scene. Besides holding a residency at Breakbeat Energy’s Digital Invasion, Jacob has graced the decks of such parties as 3rd Dimension @ DC Star, Transit and Mass Transit, Shorty’s, Hooked @ So Addictive, Tsunami Tsundays, Strangeland Records, the infamous Overload parties, and the list goes on.

Beat-Matching, cutting and transforming render dizzy marios on the dancfloor as easy prey seemlesly catching the next groove. Mr. West, formerly nown as E-Rock, Less Than Three or Salacious E. Styles: electroclash, bmore club, indiedance and 80s are the staples. occasional hip hop, house, breaks, euro, disco, grime, dubstep, dnb tune finds its way in too. when playing for the rave crowd he leans towards dnb/breakbeat/uk hardcore. and sometimes electro. Currently living in Baltimore and married to the streets.

retrospect. as a dj: equals = 1200s, vinyl and occasionally digital sources. divided by = downtempo (trip-hop, instrumental hip-hop, jazz, electronic), golden/independent era hip-hop, dub reggae, funk, psych/progressive rock, Factory Records, a ton more music+. multiplied by = previous efforts and guest apps at Saint-Ex, Wonderland and WMUC radio among other spots. but never subtracts the will to “be water” …to play and mesh as many different styles as possible in each and every one of his outings…from the equation.
